Contribution of Web2.0?

Contribution or just lame ideas - that's the comment that was made to a series of new creative ideas and thinking that I send accross - and more likely to a confronting (but honest) style of communication from my side.

Can you measure or value someones contributions in the past - in order to be able to value if todays new ideas do contribute to the overall picture OR if they reflect obstructive black thinking? Sort of; how long is my dick vs. yours....

Let's say that from 1993 til 1997 I have contributed to the HTS Racing Team by:
- Growing the team yearly budget by near % for 4 consequtive years - from 2500 EUR to 16000 EUR (relating to 23000 EUR to todays standards)
- Raising the overall financial controbution by the Hogeschool from 1500 to 6000 EUR, which still remains today
- Internatial Press Coverage in Performance Bikes Magazine
- Adopting a 2 yr project with Motor Magazine to construct a customer made motorcycle - 2 years press coverage.
- Taking the team to a level where it could win races

It wasn't me who executed and was solely responsible for this achievement - it was the team itself that created this 'magic' and who made it happen. However I believe that my 'thinking' has contributed to the overall progress that the team was able to make - the part that 'Gast' rates as invaluable.

My last contribution to the team were 4000 Euros - subsidized to the team by the 'Hogeschool' to adopt and embrace the internet, develop webpages, buy computers and internet access. Remind this was 1997 when eBay was a small company and Google didn't exist. In fact it was way before the internet bubble - bubble #1. Looking back this could have given the team an enormous advantage - however the team decided to invest into 'technology' and it lasted until 2005 before the team finaly launched a respectable website - however Web2.0 had arrived by then - again leaving the team to catch up instead of being in front.

@Erik - I indeed rate Skype as innovative for a number of reason! A few years ago conservative minds said; "Mobile phones won't be a success - calls are not going to be made via air and will always remain via copper in the ground" . See where we are today with billions of phones in the market. It is only a few years back that the Telco's invested millions to acquire UMTS licences - do you think they still would if they could have foreseen that Skype would be created - making calling a commodity - making it free! Free globally?!
Skype is changing the world - making communication with other people - where ever they are - FREE of charge. Would you have believed 2 years ago that calling would be a service for free? Most likely you would have said no (and you seen to still have that opinion today!)

Yet the Web2.0 has arrived - do you have any clue what this representing? At the moment it is my contribution for the team to make you familiar with important movent in the Global marketspace. I have been pushing you for Web2.0 via adoption of Skype, Shotcode, Fon, OpenBC, Forums, Weblogging, RSS syndication, Flickr over the last year. If you look at the cluster of companies you will find that this could have created (and still can create) the most advanced & innovative racing team in the world - where traditional economic rules (e.g. time/money/resources are limiting factors), which apply to your current standards - will be bent to your benefit. So what's witholding you from adopting those ideas? Give us insight into your thinking about where you see the world and racing move towards? You can leave comments on this blog to challenge my view on life...and we can trackback in 3 or 4 fours year to see who had the best understanding on coming development...the floor is yours.

And 'Gast' please post with your true identity.
